Nestled on 135 acres of beautiful Northern Indiana, Christiana Creek Country Club offers an 18 hole championship golf course which was originally designed by William Langford.

Scope of Work: Restoration of classic style bunkers.

We decided to use the same method to build bunkers as Langford did in the 1920’s — using a horse and pull scraper.

Shaping a bunker with a horse allowed a great appreciation for why Golden Age bunkers have the forms they do.  These were Belgium Horses that were accustomed to plowing fields all day.  We like to think they had fun too. The horses worked in tandem and had a lot of power- about 1 HP each.

We were amazed at how the horses knew not to trampled the greens. In addition to using old style methods to build — we also used modern technology to show the members what their course would look like with restored bunkers.

Golf Magazine was so interested in the project, they featured our restoration in a two-page spread.
