HISTORY

Drawing Hole #9 7-1-05Paul Albanese and Chris Lutzke have known each other since 1993 when they were both associates with renowned Michigan golf course architect Jerry Matthews. Paul and Chris would spend hours talking about golf course architecture, usually over a game of darts or a glass of beer. Paul had an extensive education in landscape architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he received a Masters degree and studied the development of design concepts via a comprehensive process. Chris had an equally impressive history of making form come to life via the creative and innovative construction practices developed by famed golf architect Pete Dye.

THE APPROACH

Paul and Chris found that their two approaches — one from the top down, the other from the bottom up — had more similarities than differences. They figured that one day, their combined methodologies would actually create some of the world’s best golf landscapes. From 1993, Chris continued working with Pete Dye while pursuing his education in landscape architecture, and Paul gained invaluable experience working as a designer for Jerry Matthews. In 2004, it was time for Chris and Paul to operate together under one roof.
